For this #MusicMondays, we are dedicating it to the group the dance & pop world is currently buzzing about: Far East Movement. Last Friday, Koreatown EDM pioneers Far East Movement released their third studio album Identity worldwide, which has since become the #1 album on the iTunes dance charts! With the 11 track project, Far East Movement aligns the stars from East to West as they’ve collaborated with both renown American artists and electrifying Asian heavyweights including Macy Gray, Big K.R.I.T., Chanyeol from EXO, Jay Park, Soulja Boy, Hyolin from Sistar, Yoonmirae, Tinashe, Tiffany from Girls Generation among others.
As a supporter of Asian Americans who make music, I have always had great respect for Far East Movement. They are multi-platinum selling artists, proclaimed by SPIN as "EDM Pioneers." They have been in pretty much every book & dissertation that studies Asian American music. It is without question that they have helped open up the doors for other Asian Americans who wanted to pursue a career in music. They are absolutely one of the influences in our decision to create TRAKTIVIST.
A few years back while Tricia and I lived in Houston, we had a chance to see the guys perform for Asian American Heritage Month. There was a Q&A session where we got to ask some pre-Traktivist related questions. We even got to meet them and talked about food haha. Right from the start, the guys seemed humble and invested into their supporters. Fast forward 2016, and we now have the pleasure to call them our friends, building something great under the Transparent Agency umbrella. Thank you FM for taking a chance with TRAKTIVIST! The future never looked so bright and exciting.
